Test Panel Structure

In this process, while we were doing researches for an inspiration of the design, we came across some images of Maldives architecture which using various types of patterns. It suddenly sparked our ideas to develop the surface by the concept of pattern, which can spin like a propeller when the wind pass through it.

Then we chose the potential patterns to analyze the repetition and the axle structure.

After that, we created 3D models to study the characters of light and shadow, opening and void.

ในขั้นตอนสุดท้าย ผมทดลองใส่ pattern ใน surface รูปแบบต่างๆ เพื่อวิเคราะห์ปัญหา รวมถึงความสามารถในการพัฒนาต่อไป ซึ่งปัญหาที่พบคือ ใบพัดสามารถติดตั้งบนส่วนโค้งนูนได้ แต่ไม่สามารถติดตั้งจุดที่เว้าลงไป เนื่องจากใบพัดจะชนกับโครงและไม่สามารถหมุนได้ รวมถึงปัญหาในเรื่องขนาดปละความห่างของใบพัดแต่ละใบ ใบพัดจำเป็นต้องห่างเท่ากันหมดมั้ย? หรือถ้าห่างไม่เท่ากันแล้วใบพัดต้องใหญ่ขึ้นอย่างไร ก็เป็นสิ่งที่เราจะต้องศึกษากันต่อไป

We experimented with methods of propeller alignment and the forms of surfaces to define the design problem. We found that it’s not possible for the propellers to spin on concave surfaces. Distance and sizes of each propellers on curve surfaces are also problems which need to be solved in the next phase.
